Liz Zanca was born in 1993, in Reading, Pennsylvania. In 2015 she completed her B.F.A. in Studio Art from Louisiana Tech University. During Zanca's time at Tech her interest in sculpture and painting grew into a relief-styled work. When walking through a landscape, she noticed how the view changes with each step. Inspired by her mood, memory and the spaces around her, she paints glimpses of landscapes filled with trees, rocks, rivers and skies. Her approach to a painting begins with layers of wood, cut to mimic a scene, then she uses a palette knife to shape details in paint. This process emphasizes the brilliancy of an atmospheric landscape and entices the viewer to explore the work from all angles, much like one explores a landscape.
Zanca's relief-style paintings are landscapes that capture moments of nature that are reminiscent of home. Her work has been recently featured at the Small Business Center at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. A selected work was accepted into the 2017 Irene Rosenweig Biennial Juried Exhibition.
